SH-Tarif tickets

Whether you travel regularly, are going shopping or are planning a day-trip, our range of tickets offers the appropriate ticket for every journey. You can easily find out the price for your journey using our Price Tool (tariff request).

Please note: Up to three children under the age of 6 travel on an adult’s ticket free of charge.

 

Overview of the ticket range

Tickets for occasional travellers:

  • Single tickets are valid for one journey to the destination.
  • Day tickets are valid for one person, for one day, and for as many journeys as you want on the selected route in both directions.
  • The small-group-ticket is valid for up to five persons, for one day and for as many journeys as you want on the selected route, Mondays to Fridays from 9 am or all day at weekends and public holidays.

Available in buses, at ticket machines and ticket offices (Map), as printticket in the webshop or on your smartphone with the NAH.SH-App.

For regular travellers, a commutation ticket is more efficient:

  • General commutation tickets are available as weekly or monthly tickets. A subscription for a monthly ticket provides big savings: Monthly tickets cost less when you purchase them via subscription.
  • Student tickets are available to schoolchildren, trainees, students and other groups as weekly, monthly or monthly subscription tickets.

You will need a bicycle ticket if you take your bicycle with you.
Information on taking a dog with you can be found at the end of this page.

 

Tickets and conditions

  • A single ticket (Einzelkarte) is available as an adult’s and child’s ticket (up to 14 years). It is valid:

    • for one person.
    • for a single journey to your destination.
    • from purchase until 6 am the following day.
    • for short journeys (below price group 4) for a maximum of two hours after purchase.

    Up tp three children under the age of 6 travel additionally and free of charge on an adult’s ticket accompanying the adult.

    Available in buses, at ticket machines and ticket offices (Map), as printticket in the webshop or on your smartphone with the NAH.SH-App.

    Good to know:

    • Changing vehicles and interrupting the journey are possible while the ticket is valid.
    • Return or round trips are not permitted.
    • Single tickets are non-transferrable.
    • Children up to (and including) the age of 14 travel at the reduced single fare (Single ticket child). The rule for accompanying children under the age of 6 does not apply here.
    • Single tickets are available for 1st and 2nd class.

    Owners of a BahnCard or SH-Card receive a 25 % price deduction on single tickets.

    Savings tip: Are you travelling several times on the same day? A day ticket is often cheaper than two single tickets, even for a simple return journey. Are you travelling with friends or family? For travelling as a group of two persons or more, a small-group ticket is often cheaper. Calculate using our Price Tool (tariff request).

  • The day ticket (Tageskarte) is valid:

    • for one person and up to three accompanying children under the age of 6.
    • for as many journey as you want to make on the selected route (outwards and return journeys) or as a network ticket in the entire SH-Tarif network.
    • on the selected day from midnight until 6 am the following day.

    Available in buses, at ticket machines and ticket offices (Map), as printticket in the webshop or on your smartphone with the NAH.SH-App.

    Good to know:

    • Day tickets are non-transferrable. You’ll have to sign your name on the ticket before starting your journey.
    • Select the day ticket for the SH-Tarif network if you would like to travel independently of a certain route. You can travel throughout Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg all day long on a network ticket.
    • Day tickets are available for 2nd and 1st class.

    Savings tip: Are you travelling together with someone? Even as a couple, you can travel more cheaply with the small-group ticket than with two day tickets. It often also pays off to use it instead of two single tickets.

  • The small-group ticket (Kleingruppenkarte) is valid:

    • for up to five persons and up to three additional accompanying children under the age of 6.
    • for as many journeys as you want to make on the selected route (outwards and return journeys) or as a network ticket in the entire SH-Tarif network.
    • Valid Mondays to Fridays from 9 am until 6 am the following day.
    • Valid Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays from midnight until 6 am of the following day.

    Available in buses, at ticket machines and ticket offices (Map), as printticket in the webshop or on your smartphone with the NAH.SH-App.

    Good to know:

    • Small-group tickets are non-transferrable. You’ll need to sign the names of all those travelling on the ticket before starting your journey.
    • Select the small-group ticket for the SH-Tarif network if you would like to travel independently of a certain route. You can travel throughout Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg all day long on a network ticket.
    • Small-group tickets are available for 2nd class travel only.

  • If you are planning a group journey with six persons or more, please contact the NAH.SH customer dialogue. We will be happy to provide you with the appropriate prices and inform you about how to book your ticket.

    Group travels need to be booked at the transport company at least ten days in advance, so please contact us in due time.

  • The weekly ticket (Wochenkarte) is valid:

    • on seven consecutive days, 24 hours a day.
    • for one person and up to three accompanying children under the age of 6.
    • for as many journey as you want to make on the selected route (both directions) or as a network ticket in the entire SH-Tarif network.

    Available in buses (outside of Kiel, Lübeck and Neumünster), at ticket machines and ticket offices (Map).

    Good to know:

    • Weekly tickets can be transferred to another person.
    • You can freely select the day of the week on which it starts.
    • Select the weekly ticket for the SH-Tarif network if you would like to travel independently of a certain route. You can travel throughout Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg all week long on a network ticket.
    • Weekly tickets are available for 2nd or 1st class travel.

    Student passes are available at reduced prices for schoolchildren, students and trainees.

    Savings tip: Are you a regular traveller? From three weeks onwards, a monthly ticket is cheaper than buying weekly tickets.

  • The monthly ticket (Monatskarte) is valid:

    • for one month, 24 hours a day.
    • for one person and any number of accompanying children under the age of 6.
    • for as many journeys as you want to make on the selected route (both directions) or as a network ticket in the entire SH-Tarif network.

    Available in buses (outside of Kiel, Lübeck and Neumünster), at ticket machines and ticket offices (Map).

    Good to know:

    • Monthly tickets can be transferred to another person.
    • You can freely select the day of the week on which it starts.
    • Select the monthly ticket for the SH-Tarif network if you would like to travel independently of a certain route. You can travel throughout Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg all month long on a network ticket.
    • On weekends (Saturday, midnight to Monday 6 am) and public holidays owners of a monthly ticket via subscription can travel together with another person and three accompanying children up to the age of 14 free of charge.
    • Monthly tickets are available for 2nd or 1st class travel.
    • Student passes are available at reduced prices for schoolchildren, students and trainees.
  • The monthly ticket via subscription (Monatskarte im Abo) is valid:

    • for at least twelve months, 24 hours a day.
    • for one person and up to three accompanying children under the age of 6.
    • for as many journeys as you want to make on the selected route (both directions) or as a network ticket in the entire SH-Tarif network.

    Good to know:

    • Spent two months each year: you drive 12 months, but only pay the price for 10 months.
    • Monthly tickets via subscription can be transferred to another person. They are also available as personal tickets that are not transferrable.
    • Select the monthly ticket via subscription for the SH-Tarif network if you would like to travel independently of a certain route. You can travel throughout Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg all month long on a network ticket.
    • On weekends (Saturday, midnight to Monday 6 am) and public holidays owners of a monthly ticket via subscription can travel together with another person and three accompanying children up to the age of 14 free of charge.
    • Monthly tickets via subscription are available for 2nd or 1st class travel.
    • Student passes are available at reduced prices for schoolchildren, students and trainees.

    If you want to purchase monthly tickets via subscription, you’ll need to make a contract with a transport company of your choice.

  • Student tickets (Schülerzeitkarten) are available for schoolchildren, students and trainees and other similar groups (entitled groups German language only). Users older than 12 need to have an additional master card (Stammkarte) to use student tickets. The master card is available free of charge from all transport companies and must be filled out with a photograph and be stamped by the educational institution or place of training.

    The following student tickets (Schülerzeitkarten) are available:

    • The student weekly ticket (Schülerwochenkarte) is valid for a calendar week (Monday to Sunday).
    • The student monthly ticket (Schülermonatskarte) is valid for a calendar month (1st to the 31st of a month).
    • The student monthly ticket via subscription (Schülermonatskarte im Abo) is valid until the subscription is cancelled, but at least for 12 months.

    Student tickets are valid:

    • 24 hours a day within the period of validity.
    • for schoolchildren, students or trainees and other groups.
    • for as many journeys as you want to make on the selected route (both directions) or as a network ticket in the entire SH-Tarif network.

    Available in buses (outside of Kiel, Lübeck and Neumünster), at ticket machines and ticket offices (Map). If you want to purchase a student monthly ticket via subscription, you’ll need to make a contract with a transport company of your choice.

    Good to know:

    • Student tickets are non-transferrable. You’ll need to sign your name on the ticket.
    • Student tickets are only available for 2nd class travel.
  • It is possible to take your bicycle with you in all means of transport, provided there is enough space. You will need a bicycle ticket to take your bicycle with you.

    • The bicycle day ticket (Fahrradtageskarte) allows the holder to take a bicycle with them as many times as desired along the selected route (in both directions) on the date printed on the ticket until 6am the following day.
    • This ticket is also available as a network ticket for the entire SH-Tarif network.
    • For short journeys (below price class 4), the inexpensive single bicycle ticket (Fahrradeinzelkarte) is available for single trips.

    Good to know:

    • Taking a bicycle along with you is only possible when there is sufficient space onboard the vehicle and cannot be guaranteed. Prams and wheelchair users take priority.
    • Please always park your bicycle in the specially-marked multi-purpose compartments. If these are not available, please use the entrance areas and areas with fold-up seats. Secure your bicycle during the journey.
    • Only two-wheel, one-seat, non-motorised bicycles may be taken onboard. Electric bicycles (e-bikes) of a similar type as well as recumbent bicycles, tandems, scooters, Segways and Scuddys may also be taken onboard.
    • Foldable bicycles that can be stowed like hand luggage may be taken onto trains free of charge. The same applies to foldable scooters (max. suitcase size).
    • Foldable bicycles may be taken onto buses free of charge if they are stowed completely in a bag.
  • A single ticket child (Einzelkarte Kind) for the journey from departure to destination is required for taking a dog with you. It is valid for a single journey. The general rules of accompaniment for children or extended rules of accompaniment in the case of monthly tickets do not apply for dogs. For small-group tickets, a dog does not count as a person and instead needs a separate ticket. Small (up to the size of a domestic cat), non-dangerous dogs that are transported in closed carriers can be taken free of charge only on trains. Animal boxes, cages or special carriers for animal transport count as closed carriers.

    Good to know:

    • Transport is only possible where capacity permits and provided that other passengers are not endangered or inconvenienced.
    • Dogs that are not transported in closed carriers must only be transported while on a leash. If the dog is larger than a domestic cat, it must also wear an appropriate muzzle.
    • Guide dogs accompanying a blind passenger are transported free of charge. They are not subject to the muzzle regulation.
